New Delhi: Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on Thursday said that a series of agitations and demonstrations would be held this month pertaining to the College of Arts merger, restoration of workload and absorption of ad hoc teachers among other issues.
“A protest march to parliament will be held on March 31 and on April 4, a demonstration will be held on the issue of College of Arts. We will be demanding the withdrawal of the Delhi government’s proposal on the merger of College of Arts with Ambedkar University Delhi,” DUTA president AK Bhagi said.
While a demonstration will be held on March 22 during the academic council meeting, DUTA will also be holding protests in phases from March 25 to 29 across colleges.
“Restoration of workload/number of credits in the first three years of undergraduate curriculum framework for discipline specific honours courses, release of full grant-in-aid from the next quarter for the 12 DU colleges that are funded by the Delhi government, including payment of salaries, arrears and other dues, are the other demands,” Bhagi said.
Over absorption of ad hoc teachers, DUTA further added, “For resolving the issues and hurdles related to absorption, DU, UGC and MoE together should frame the modalities to absorb these teachers by bringing one-time extraordinary ordinance/bill.”
